Terms and Conditions

AI Innovation Talent Hunt 2025 (AITH2025)

By participating in the AI Innovation Talent Hunt 2025 (AITH2025), you agree to comply with the following terms and conditions:

Eligibility

Participant Requirements

  • Must be current students of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) and Fresh Graduates (2024 and later)
  • Can participate individually or in teams of up to 3 members
  • May include up to 2 faculty supervisors (lecturer and above at IUB only)

Competition Rules

Model Development

  • Any machine learning technique is allowed (collaborative filtering, deep learning, NLP, etc.)
  • You may use any platform including:
    • Google Colab (Free/Pro)
    • Kaggle Notebooks (Free GPUs for 30 hours/week)
    • Local or personal setups

Data Usage and External Resources

  • Use of pretrained models or external data is allowed only if properly cited and open-source
  • All external resources must be disclosed in your submission
  • You must comply with IMDb's Terms of Use when using the provided datasets

Submission Requirements

What You Must Submit

  • Trained models in the specified format
  • Predictions in the specified format
  • Documentation of your approach and methodology
  • All submissions must follow the specified template structure

Evaluation Process

  • Evaluation will be conducted on a private test dataset
  • Primary Phase: Evaluated using Recall@5, Recall@3, Recall@1, and other metrics
  • Bonus Phase: Evaluated using RMSE, MSE, and other metrics
  • Generalization performance is key to success

Prohibited Activities and Disqualification

You will be disqualified for any of the following:

  • Use of external proprietary data without proper disclosure
  • Plagiarism or unauthorized copying of code/models
  • Model tampering or attempts to manipulate the evaluation process
  • Violation of IMDb's Terms of Use
  • Providing false information during registration
  • Attempting to access private test datasets

Data Privacy and Processing

Personal Data Collection

By registering, you consent to the collection and processing of your personal data including:

  • Name, email address, phone number
  • University and department information
  • Team information (if applicable)

Data Usage

Your personal data will be used for:

  • Competition administration and communication
  • Prize distribution and recognition
  • Future collaboration opportunities (with your consent)
  • Certificate generation

Data Protection

  • Your data will be kept secure and confidential
  • Data will not be shared with third parties without your consent
  • You may request deletion of your data after the competition

Intellectual Property

Your Submissions

  • You retain ownership of your original code and models
  • By submitting, you grant organizers the right to evaluate and showcase your work
  • Top submissions may be featured in publications or presentations with attribution

Provided Resources

  • Competition datasets are provided for educational and research purposes only
  • You may not redistribute or use datasets for commercial purposes
  • Datasets are sourced from IMDb.com and subject to their terms of use

Prizes and Recognition

Prize Distribution

  • Winners will be selected based on model performance and approach novelty
  • Prize decisions are final and non-appealable
  • Prizes will be distributed after the announcement ceremony

Recognition

  • All valid submissions receive certificates of participation
  • Top performers may be invited for collaboration opportunities
  • Results may be published in academic or industry publications

Communication and Support

Official Channels

  • All official communication will be through registered email addresses
  • Private Discord community access provided after registration for peer discussion and support
  • Check the official website for updates and announcements

Liability and Disclaimers

Competition Conduct

  • Organizers reserve the right to modify rules or timeline if necessary
  • Decisions regarding rule violations or disputes are final
  • Participation is voluntary and at your own risk

Technical Issues

  • Organizers are not responsible for technical failures on participant systems
  • Backup your work regularly using version control
  • Submit early to avoid last-minute technical issues

Amendments

These terms may be updated during the competition. Participants will be notified of any significant changes through official communication channels.

Agreement

By checking the consent box during registration, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
